Vibrant Yellow Ford GT Gets PUR Forged Monoblock Wheels
There aren’t that many supercars that come with such a rich heritage and aura as the Ford GT. Once a famed racecar, the vehicle saw it’s second coming as the first and second generation road-legal supercar that hit the streets back in 2005. Now, with the second generation seeing the light of day at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, the first vehicle deliveries are slowly trickling down to end customers. This particular Vibrant Yellow Ford GT comes from PUR Wheels and it features a set of their forged concave goodies added to this amazing vehicle.
The Ford GT comes powered by a freshly designed 3.5 liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine making 647 hp (482 kW; 656 PS) and 550 lb·ft (746 N·m) of torque. Ford GT has a power to weight ratio of 2.11 kg (4.65 lb) per horsepower. According to Ford, “the GT will exhibit one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car,” thanks to its lightweight carbon fiber construction. Additionally, the vehicle comes with its carbon fiber monocoque bolted to an aluminum front and rear subframes covered in carbon fiber body panels. The car also has race-inspired pushrod suspension, active aerodynamics, and Gorilla Glass – same as used on mobile phones – to keep the weight down.
The Ford GT is being built at a rate of one car per day in Ford’s brand-new, low-volume assembly facility at Multimatic in Markham, Ontario. Production is set to keep going until October 2020. 2017 and 2018 model year vehicles will be reserved for selected GT buyers, 2019 vehicles for buyers passed over in the initial selection process, and 2020 vehicles for new customers. In turn, this makes the second-generation Ford GT one of the rarest supercars ever to be produced.
For this build, a high-quality lightweight setup was needed. The PUR RS10 wheels were selected for the Ford GT based on its classic design style and lightweight monoblock forging. The wheels were carefully measured and a staggered 20×9 and 20×12 fitment is used to provide all the grip the Ford GT needs on and off the track. The wheels are finished with a Lumiere grey finish, making them align perfectly with the classical lines of this supercar altogether.
