The 2026 Mercedes-AMG E 53 HYBRID has arrived, blending the brand’s signature high performance with a surprising dose of everyday practicality. This new hybrid wagon offers a significant all-electric range of up to 41 miles, making it a versatile option for both spirited drives and daily commutes. Starting at $93,350, the E 53 HYBRID is set to hit U.S. dealerships in early fall of 2025, making it the cheapest high-performance wagon among the big German three.
Powering this wagon is a formidable combination: an AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine and a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. Together, they produce a robust 577 hp, a figure that jumps to 604 hp with the optional RACE START function. This power translates to blistering acceleration, with the car launching from 0-60 mph in a mere 3.8 seconds. This is all managed by the standard AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, ensuring maximum traction and control. The vehicle’s handling is further refined by AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping and 2.5-degree active rear-axle steering.
For those seeking even more performance, the optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package delivers. It adds an electronically controlled AMG limited-slip rear differential, the RACE START function, and an upgraded AMG High Performance Composite Brake System with larger front brake discs. This package helps rein in the car’s elevated top speed of 174 mph.
Personalization is a key element of the E 53 HYBRID’s appeal. Customers can choose from over 10 exterior paint colors and three distinct design packages: the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, AMG Night Package, and AMG Night Package Plus. The standard 20-inch AMG wheels can also be upgraded to 20-inch or 21-inch forged wheel designs.
Inside, the wagon offers a luxurious and tech-forward cabin. Standard features include an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather with AMG DRIVE UNIT buttons, heated power front seats, and a Burmester 4D Surround Sound System. The optional MBUX Superscreen Package adds a 12.3-inch front passenger display, complementing the standard 14.4-inch central display. Seating can be customized with the Multicontour Seating Package for added comfort or the AMG Performance Seat Package Advanced for enhanced support during dynamic driving. The interior comes with standard AMG MB-Tex/Microfiber upholstery, with optional AMG Nappa leather choices and a variety of trim finishes from natural grain wood to AMG Carbon Fiber.
For the 2026 model year only, a limited “Edition 1” model is available. This special edition features exclusive MANUFAKTUR Alpine Grey paint, contrasting AMG graphics, black 21-inch AMG Forged Cross-Spoke wheels, and a unique edition-specific interior. It’s a comprehensive package that combines all the best features into one unique offering.
