Just by adding a set of lightweight HRE FF10 wheels, this owner turned his VW Golf GTI into an even more aggressive-looking hot hatch, something that will undoubtedly result in a lot of head-turning wherever he takes it

The newest-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI is in its eighth incarnation, giving hot hatch lovers all across the world another turbocharged option to consider. The Ford Focus, Megane RS, and Audi S3 competitor come with somewhat updated styling as compared to the previous generation GTI, but it packs a bit more punch and comes with a few additional tricks up its sleeve. The VW Golf GTI VIII derives its power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering 245 horsepower and 370Nm (273lb-ft) of torque.

The power is delivered to the front wheels by either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission system (DSG). In turn, it enables the hot hatch to sprint from 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in about 6 seconds. Furthermore, this Golf GTI will accelerate all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h (183mph).

“For over four decades, the three letters GTI have stood for sporty driving pleasure and technology at the highest level”, noted the VW Brand Board Member of Management responsible for Sales, Jurgen Stackmann. “We thank our customers for 2.3 million Golf GTIs sold. The new GTI is full of innovation. It too will set new standards and thrill our customers.”

The VW Golf GTI is also one of the most popular tuning happy cars out there. With a big following, ranging from the MKI to the MKVIII, the aftermarket tuning aficionados can turn these vehicles into works of art, or simply, add a bit more aggressiveness to them. And in the case of this white VW Golf GTI from HRE Wheels, the latter is just the case. The car comes with a set of lightweight HRE FF10 wheels in a gorgeous Tarmac Gray finish, accentuating the red Brembo brake calipers perfectly. While we didn’t receive the full specs from the wheel maker, usually the owners go with a 19×8.5 in the front and 19×8.5 in the rear, producing just the right combination of sizes and fitment for this platform. In turn, thanks to the precise fitment engineered & built especially for this vehicle, the wheels flow flush with the lowered vehicle and produce a rather impeccable-looking setup.
