One hundred years after the birth of the first Bentley Super Sports, the iconic name returns with the fourth Supersports model in Bentley history. The new Continental GT Supersports is the most driver-focused version the brand has ever produced, engineered around purity, precision and mechanical intensity rather than ultimate top speed. Rear wheel drive, a strict two-seat cabin and a kerb weight below the two-tonne mark mark a major philosophical shift for a company known for luxury first and performance second. With a strengthened 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 666 PS and 800 Nm through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the Supersports is intended to thrill without any hybrid assistance.
Purposeful Engineering on the Outside
Bentley describes the exterior as the most purposeful Continental GT to date, and the extensive aerodynamic work makes that clear. A new front bumper incorporates the largest splitter ever fitted to a Bentley road car, channelling cooling air to both the engine and front brakes. Carbon fibre dive planes, side sills, fender blades and a new rear diffuser partner with a fixed rear wing to generate more than 300 kilograms of additional downforce compared with a Continental GT Speed. Even the roof has been replaced with a carbon fibre panel, improving stiffness while lowering weight and the centre of gravity. Standard carbon ceramic brakes, 22-inch forged wheels developed with Manthey Racing and an Akrapovic titanium exhaust underscore the focus on serious performance.
A Cabin Built for Drivers
Inside, the traditional luxury of a Bentley GT yields to a motorsport-inspired environment. The rear seats are gone, replaced by a carbon fibre and leather shell that trims significant mass and sharpens the car’s sense of purpose. New sports seats sit lower in the chassis and provide heavy bolstering for high-speed cornering. Customers can choose monotone, duo tone or tri tone interiors, with leather, Dinamica and carbon fibre dominating the surfaces. Supersports badging and a numbered plaque confirm the rarity of each of the 500 units that will be built.
Project Mildred and the Spirit of Experimentation
The car exists thanks to an internal experiment launched in 2024. A small team proposed a rear wheel drive, sub two tonne Continental GT and built a test mule within six weeks. The results were convincing enough to green light the entire program under strict secrecy. The codename Mildred was chosen in tribute to Mildred Mary Petre, who set endurance records in a Bentley 4½ Litre in 1929. Her relentless pursuit of the limits of speed and durability became the philosophical foundation for the project.
Honoring a Lineage of Rarity and Speed
The Supersports name carries serious weight inside Bentley lore. The original Super Sports of 1925 was the first Bentley to exceed 100 mph, and only 18 were ever built. The modern era revived the badge in 2009 and again in 2017, each time representing the most extreme performance version of the Continental GT. The new Supersports changes course by emphasizing engagement and weight reduction rather than record setting top speed, pushing the model line into new territory.
The First Rear Wheel Drive Continental GT
For the first time outside the GT3 race cars, a Continental GT will deliver power exclusively to the rear axle. An electronically controlled limited-slip differential, torque vectoring by brake and a wider rear track aim to create a sharper turn-in and a more vivid dynamic character. New calibrations reshape the steering, suspension and traction control systems. ESC modes allow drivers to choose a fully assisted experience, a dynamic mode with controlled slip or a completely unassisted setting that unlocks full oversteer potential.
Lightness, Downforce and Production
The Supersports is the lightest Bentley in 85 years, thanks to the deletion of the rear cabin, revised sound insulation and the removal of non-essential driver assistance systems. Combined with the new aerodynamic package, the car achieves a dramatic boost in agility and stability. Production begins in late 2026 with deliveries scheduled for early 2027, and availability will span key global markets.
The new Supersports is Bentley at its most daring, blending craftsmanship with raw mechanical intensity. It is a bold celebration of a century old name and a clear statement about the future of performance at Crewe.
