Volvo Cars leads 2024 Newsweek Autos Awards with most Best vehicle winners
While most of their models are getting kinda long in the tooth, the Swedish car maker Volvo is still reaping awards for their latest models. This week, four Volvo car models have been named the Best vehicle and Top Pick in the annual 2024 Newsweek Autos Awards. Across all automakers, Volvo Cars had the most “Best” winners in the awards with XC60 for the Suburbanites and Single, Powerful Women categories and EX30 for the Urbanites category.
Volvo Cars has won “Best” and “Top Pick” in six different categories for four different models:
Category | Designation | Model |
Suburbanites | Best | XC60 |
Empty Nesters | Top Pick | XC60 |
New Parents | Top Pick | XC40 Recharge |
Single, Powerful Women | Best | XC60 |
Commuters | Top Pick | EX30 |
Urbanites | Best | EX30 |
Urbanites | Top Pick | C40 Recharge |
The awards highlight the industry’s top 10 vehicles in each category with “Best” signifying the winner and “Top Picks” representing the nine runner-ups. Newsweek ranked vehicles in 13 lifestyle-focused categories, which were chosen to align with new car buyer behavior. Each category has different criteria measured from the perspective of a person in the lifestyle category while considering the overall drive-and-ride experience. Only vehicles that the Newsweek editorial staff has hands-on driving experience with are eligible for the 2024 Newsweek Autos Awards. For most, Volvo still is one of the top luxury brands in the world. The safety aspect, great design and rather great usability, all make their vehicles a highly-coveted item – even with an aging model range.
