The Ultimate Tesla: Satin Black Model S S-APEX By Unplugged Performance

This 2023 Tesla Model S S-APEX Plaid is one of the most daunting all-electric high-performance machines, coming with an aggressive exterior look, custom bespoke Banbū Leather interior, and performance upgrades that make it a daily driving track weapon that can duke it out with the best of them on and off the track

The 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid starts at $114,990 with the current price reductions by the carmaker. And for that money, you get one impressive-looking and performing machine, capable of going from 0-60mph (0-97km/h) in just 1.99 seconds. It is capable of traveling up to 621 kilometers (396 miles) – its estimated EPA range. An impressive feat for a vehicle capable of such performance and driving dynamics. And right now, this is the ultimate Tesla – until the Roadster comes out.

However, if that’s not good enough for you, a California-based Tesla performance specialist Unplugged Performance can turn the Plaid into an even more impressive machine. Well, if you’re not shy about parting with $249,000 – the starting price for an Unplugged Performance Model S S-APEX build.

The figure above gives you what is now the best-looking Model S Plaid, with a hefty amount of performance and luxury upgrades. Sure, we might be a little biased, but getting a widebody this clean and looking this aggressive isn’t an easy feat to achieve. Particularly with an all-electric super sedan that can duke it out with the best of them on the track. In turn, this is one of the most highly coveted items in the electric car world right now, and Unplugged Performance has a long waiting list of clients waiting on their very own S-APEX right now.

Every Tesla Model S S-APEX build is uniquely commissioned to the specific individual tastes of each owner. However, the one characteristic shared by all builds is performance. S-APEX builds include the 19-piece pre-preg carbon fiber body, racing suspension, lightweight carbon ceramic brakes, and ultra-light forged wheels. All that makes the S-APEX a true track weapon, all the while keeping all its usual comfort & daily driving amenities.

The signature design of an S-APEX Model S comes from its low-drag, 19-piece carbon fiber body conversion, which increases overall width by forty millimeters per corner. The S-APEX body conversion can be configured to showcase visible carbon fiber, or painted to match the vehicle’s body color. (For those interested in a seamless appearance, integration of exterior panels via hand-sculpting is also available.) The widened body enables increased tire width (up to 335mm in the rear) for maximum performance while being engineered to maintain full compatibility with Tesla’s Autopilot systems.

The owner of this Model S S-APEX went with Banbū Leather interior, a gorgeous man-made leather that looks & feels close to the real thing, all the while being gentler for nature. It’s a high-tech sustainable material that was developed by the von Holzhausen team to usher in a new era of luxury without compromise.

Von Holzhausen’s proprietary material science has led to the creation of Banbū Leather, a vegan leather that is buttery-soft like lambskin, scratch-resistant, stain-resistant, water-resistant, lightweight, and made from the most renewable raw material on earth (yes, you guessed it – bamboo). Perfect for a vehicle like the Model S, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a more nature-friendly environment for our kids. And yes, combat climate change.

In addition, Model S S-APEX builds receive several performance-increasing upgrades as well (depending on the package the customer goes with). Things like the UP carbon ceramic brakes, combined with the carbon fiber brake duct kit to improve stopping performance, the Model S Suspension Upgrade Package, to improve both on and off-the-track handling, or adding a race coilover setup can all make the S-APEX the ultimate Tesla track weapon. Naturally, all of the above impacts the final price of your bespoke build. But you do get a vehicle that looks incredible, performs great, and handles even better. Just what we like and appreciate.

Overall, this vehicle is the pinnacle of Model S performance & visual design. It’s what Alpina is to BMW, AMG is to Mercedes-Benz and it clearly sets a distinction between the normal Teslas and track-oriented beasts you can daily driver in the same comfortable, fashionable way. No wonder there’s a long waitlist for the S-APEX right now, that’s for sure.
