TeslaCorsa 43 Kicks Off 2026 With Zero Failures, a New Model Y Performance on Track, and a Retired Mailman Sending It Through Corners

More than 40 Tesla owners showed up at Buttonwillow Raceway Park for TeslaCorsa 43, the first event of the 2026 season, and every single one of them drove home without a mechanical issue. Not one. From first-generation Model S sedans to full-blown Plaids and even Cybertrucks, the entire grid drove to the track under their own power, hammered through the CW13 configuration session after session, and then let Full Self-Driving (Supervised) handle the cruise back home. That is the kind of reliability that would make most combustion-powered track day regulars lose their minds.

The point TeslaCorsa continues to make is a simple one, but it never gets old: your daily driver is a capable track car. No trailer required. No dedicated cooling setup. No post-track mechanical inspection. Just show up, drive hard, and go home. Just what car enthusiasts like. And make no mistake, there are some great racing moments to be experienced with every event.

The 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance Makes Its Track Debut

All eyes were on the new 2026 Tesla Model Y Performance as it rolled onto a racetrack for the very first time. A couple of MYPs joined the grid, and the buzz around them was palpable. The latest Model Y Performance comes with improved power delivery, a revised suspension setup, and better seat bolstering straight from the factory, making it more capable for high-performance driving out of the box than any Model Y before it.

The Unplugged Performance Model Y Performance was particularly impressive. Built as a street-first, occasional-track setup, it proved that you do not need a full race build to run competitive times. The build included Unplugged Performance stainless steel brake lines, street and track brake pads, Motul RBF 700 brake fluid, Moderate Option Dual Rate lowering springs, a rear UP adjustable sway bar, and a set of 20-inch (20×9.5) Satin Titanium UP-03 forged wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich g-Force PHENOM T/A tires on 275/35R20.

With that configuration, the Unplugged Performance Model Y Performance ran a 2:02 on its first outing at Buttonwillow CW13. Let that sink in for a moment. A daily driven family vehicle, running a 2:02 at one of the most demanding track configurations in Southern California on its very first attempt. Most vehicles that call themselves sports cars would struggle to match that number. Unplugged Performance is confident the car will break the 2-minute barrier next time around, and frankly, we believe them.

No Trailer. No Mechanic. No Problem.

If you have ever been around a traditional combustion-powered track day, you know the drill. Trailers to haul the car. Dedicated cooling setups. Post-event mechanical inspections can easily run into the hundreds of dollars. It is a production, and it adds up fast, both in time and money.

At TeslaCorsa 43, none of that existed. Every Tesla arrived under its own power, pushed hard through Buttonwillow’s CW13 layout all day, and left the same way it came. Between sessions, a Tesla Supercharger conveniently located on-site allowed drivers to top off their charge and get back on track in minutes. That is a level of convenience that traditional motorsport simply cannot match.

For Southern California drivers, this changes the equation entirely. There is no need for a second car, a trailer, or a weekend-only hobby vehicle collecting dust in the garage. A Tesla owner in Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, or anywhere in SoCal can wake up on a Saturday morning, drive to Buttonwillow, spend the day racing, and let FSD handle the cruise home. You arrive rested and ready for whatever Sunday throws at you. That is a compelling proposition, and the growing TeslaCorsa community is living proof that more and more people are catching on.

From Mailman to Track Driver

TeslaCorsa 43 welcomed six first-time track drivers, several of whom had never experienced organized motorsport in any form. Among them was Damien, a retired mailman who arrived at Buttonwillow with zero racing experience and plenty of nerves. By his second session, the nerves were gone and the grin was permanent. He was charging through corners like he had been doing it for years.

Stories like Damien’s are what make TeslaCorsa special. No prior track experience is required. No vehicle modifications are necessary. The instructional format is designed to build confidence at every skill level, and the community is welcoming in a way that traditional motorsport often is not. If you own a Tesla, you are ready. That is the entire barrier to entry.

Every Tesla. Every Trim. Every Skill Level.

The diversity of vehicles at TeslaCorsa 43 was remarkable. First-generation Model S sedans ran alongside Model S Plaids, unleashing their full 1,020 horsepower. Cybertrucks drew attention in every session. Model 3s across all trims showed up in force. An UP.FIT Patrol Model Y made an appearance. And of course, the newly debuted 2026 Model Y Performance stole the show. All of them prove the same thing: any Tesla platform can hold its own on a racetrack.
